Let's Get Reading!
This year in 3rd grade your child be allowed to participate in a 40 book challenge incentive program. This is not a requirement but encouraged to help boost their interest in reading. We will provide rewards along the way to help keep your child motivated. The purpose of this program is to encourage your child to grow as a reader. Please be sure to read all the information below.
Requirements
Your child must read 40 CHAPTER BOOKS. I bold those words so that everyone knows the books completed must be chapter books. I have posted a picture of different examples, but your child is not limited to these. I want them to read books they enjoy. We will work together to find what interests them.
Rewards
10 books completed=ice cream coupon
20 books completed=extra recess
30 books completed=TBD
40 books completed=TBD
Accountability
Once your child has completed a book they will complete a book talk with either myself or Ms. Borski to show they read the book. This will help to improve their comprehension skills. Here are a few examples of possible questions we may ask:
* What is the genre?
* Did you enjoy this book?
* What is the summary of the book?
*What was the problem in the story? Solution? (If there is one)
* What was your favorite part?
